The K&N filters are alright, but I don't like how they're mounted on top of the throttle body :?

There are BMC copies available from eBay and I think Halfords do a version of the BMC for around 50 quid. There's also an economy version of the CDA called the DIA, which has a plastic enclosure, opposed to the carbon CDA.

That would be the 57i ones. I think i will end up going for just a replacement panel filter - just a better airflow. At the moment, I can't afford a BMC - and I like the original look of my engine bay :P

I believe that you have to buy 2 panel filters for the 1.0L engine.

I'm not sure why, but Dan (DanDiesel) on here, found it out back when he had his 1.0L Mk5, which had the K&N panel filters.

yo Alex

well as a fellow 1.0E owner, i've tried to make mine a little faster.
I've added a k&n induction kit with a cold air feed and i got a full Scorpion exhaust system that seems to free up the revs.
its hardly worth remapping the engine though mate, with a 1.0 i think its best to go down the styling route, get some nice alloys, slam it and you'll be the envy of all those barried up festa's and paxo's

any more advice you need i'll be willing to help

remember less is more!

Hehe cheers dude - so what KnN induction kit have you got? And also, how on earth do you fit it. I cant even seem to get the factory air box off :P

And yes I agree, less is definately more :P

ta da here i am!!

Ollie was right, the 1.0l engine does have 2 airfilters and i found this oyut the hard way, buying one and then finding that i had 2!!
to be honest, the k&n panels didn't make any noise at all, all they did was give better airflow which meant that the revs were lower at say 70mph, than they would have been with the original filters!

i would go down the styling route with the 1.0l, get a nice back box for looks and a bit of sound but that about it!

Styling it is then. If i had a 1.4 16v for example, engine mods would be more beneficial, but the general concensus is to style more on 1.0L which I now agree with :D
