I dont want to put you off or anything.

But the K&N filters that sit on top of the back of the engine tend to draw in hot air from the engine which isnt good. They look nice and probably sound good too, but I'm not sure about decent performance gains.

Apparently the Mk 3 golf spi inlet arragement can be used, this moves the filter to a better place and not subject to heat.

true, but my car runs cold since i put that on and on a 1.0Liter it ain't gonna make much power difference!

fair coment from both of yous! having the filter at the back would mean it probably would bring in a bit of hot air from the engine, but then it is only a 1.0L! i'll probably go for an induction kit! i don't think k&N do one for it! any thoughts?

I think using the Mk 3 golf spi inlet would be better. It bolts on top of the throttle body and it has the inlet pipe going towards the same sort of the place as the GT does. You should be able to get one from a scrapy or breakers, then get a universal cone filter on the end.

I can imagine a custom made samco hose being £££ as they're universal ones arent exactly cheap !
