removing boot card (or whatever its called)

Post by gti_black »

does anyone know how to remove the plastic covering on the inside of the boot lid. basically i want to try and stuff it with some sound deadening because its rattling quite a bit when my subs cranked up.

is it similar to removing door cards (couple screws and clips all round) or is there more to it.

theres two screws in the two handles on the plastic bit which u need to undo then literally get a scre driver in between the metal and plastic and pry the clips out theres quite a few dont be scared to use force it wont break!

They are star keys though. Not screws. So you will need the right tools

Yep thats the one, however I'm not entirely sure that is the best way to remove it, sure the screws first but my one of my plastic clips has broken and when I replaced the cover it I find it easier to slide the clips back in place first (towards to bottom of the boot lid when closed) and then to clip the upper part (closest to the window) last, so may be undoing in the opposite, actually pulling the cover away from the window and then sliding and lifting the plastic cover towards the front of the car...either way, it comes out and if you do break a clip, don't worry, the screws will hold it firmly in place (from experience!)...just don't go losing a screw though!

yep. had a go today.

remove the 2 screws first. then unclip the edge along the window. the edge along the bottom of the boot is not clipped in but is held in place by a few plastic bits which slot into the metal framework. clips are only along the sides and along the window edge.
