Which car stereo next....?

My sony head unit has alomost died on me.

At the moment i have the Sony CDX M800 and after years of play i have lost all functions to the internal buttons and lost of visual displays.

I am looking to change it now and would like some recommendations of the same if not better standards.

Sorry to say but i would keep away from sony, if you want decent sound out your speaker then go for either alpine or Pioneer headunit,

As above, though it's a shame Apline headunits look so cheap. JVC are good too, I got one. I recommend a Becker if you want great sound quality plus an OEM look

Search on ebay mate for a new ribbon for the m800.... this should fix oyur prolems with your current unit/...

then of course if you want a new one it will be easier to sell

go pioneer for looks and and sound, alpine for quality although i think they look s**t....

Yeah Alpine make the worst looking headunits, shame if they are ment to be the best

I've got an Alpine CDA-9853R MP3 headunit in mine. I think it looks fine! Certainly performs well, and it matches the dials

a very nice unit. you can change the green lights into blue or red as well. so it matches nicely with the dial of the polo. has 2 preouts including sub so perfect for driving a sub and even has second one if you ever decide to amp your front speakers.

alpine + pioneer are both very good. i personally prefer pioneer

becker is said to have superior sound quality but i think it lacks some of the advanced features. i may be wrong though
