ive noticed recently that once ive started my car up and its sitting idle (not in gear, but engine running) when standing outside you can hear this whirring sounds as if a stream of water is running.
kinda sounds like if a water tap is left open. its not very loud but it can be heard fairly easily and was wondering if this is a fault of some sort or just a common sound. its seems to be coming from under the car around the middle area.
ive also noticed the handbrake being dodgy. whenever i park the car and lift the handbrake i always lift it up securely, however sometimes when i get back into the car, the handbrake makes a small noise as if it wasnt on securely. its hard to describe but imaging putting your handbrake up securely, although the handbrake is up it sounds as if its not up 100% but instead being up 98% meaning it would rub until fully lifted up. if i lift it up further (until it clicks once, then its fine and i dont get the noise)
i know most ppl will say im not lifting my handbrake up far enough but surely i shouldnt need to lift it up so far up. trust me i always lift it up with average force and enough for it to be secure. is thre a possibility of a dodgy handbrake or yet again just a common pain in a**e??
thanks. advice appreciated,
btw its a 1.4 SE
something leaking sound?
Inside, Round the handbrake i believe, as i said consult your haynes manual if you have one, if not buy one lolgti_black wrote:phewww!!!
i thought it may be a bit more serious as a friend of mine (has a astra) recently had his handbrake go overnight and next morning found his car barely sitting on the edge of his driveway held only by the uneven surface.
is it a under the car job or something done from inside??
