mirror housing repair

Some kind soul hit my drivers mirror while it was parked luckily the mirror itself is fine though it has left a hole in the house of about an inch wide , any idea how i could repair this (on a 98 polo)

Fiberglass repair kit or like a loctite body compound perhaps?
