Tyres on GT TDI

Post by grantcolborn »

My front tyres are about done on my car after 19k miles. Has anyone changed from the standard Continentals? I'm considering getting Goodyear F1 Eagles but at around £200 for them fitted they seem a bit expensive! Has anyone got good or bad reports on their tyres?

I've not had any experience with those tyres but you get what you pay for really.

I paid £105 (I think) for 2 Toyo Proxes T1-S to be supplied & fitted.

I think they are shockingly rubbish!

No grip what so ever in the wet or even just damp! Each to their own i guess!

I had turanzas on the passat and they were superb. tons of braking power in the wet, saved me once on a roundabout when some idiot just slammed on for no reason whatsoever.

and good on the corners in the wet, but under power in the wet they did slide a bit but you can't have everything.

no, me too.
I had turanza's and they are pretty crap grip. I asked the tyre centre I use to recomend a tyre the last time I needed a pair. They put on GY F1's and to be honest these are as bad for grip but they wear out quicker : (

I find my Eagle F1 GSD3's superb, the grip in the wet or dry is fantastic.
