HOW RANDOM!!!!!!!!

Post by Petrol_Head »

Im a bit embarrassed so please dont laugh at me....

But.. i brought a mad Peco Power exhaust for my car.. got a right bargain on ebay.. roughly 45 squid including delivery.

Anyway.. had a little trouble fitting it on.. but then with some clever tactics fitted it on.

Anyway.. now the RANDOM PART.

WITH this ehaust (beast) on, im hearing some FLIPPING AWSOME sound!! A nice BEASTLY DEEP BASS ROAR!

ANYWAY.. 2 days LATER!!!!... im SEEING what can only be described as some sort of BLACK HORSE HAIR coming out of the EXHAUST!!!!

HOW FLIPPING RANDOM IS THAT???????

ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE HELL IT IS?????????

I"L POST PICS SHORTLY FOR ALL THOSE NON-BELIEVERS!!!

Its a common problem with Peco exhausts....Had a similar problem with mine....

Something to do with the back pressure or something...

all it does is muffle the sound, so the more you pull out, the louder your exhaust will get.

Iv just been researching this problem read from another forum for escorts that a person had the same problem and pulled it out untill nothing more was left.. however when at a garage they were told

it was the cat liner disintigrating.

Has anyone changed the cataylitic converter.. cos thats what im planning to do?

Iv had to have a new cat put on couple of MOTs ago and it was'nt cheap.

I dont think your zorst will start to sound tinny, just louder and maybe more echo-ey !

My dad changed the cat on my car. The garage wanted £280 for the new cat and labour, but my dad managed to pick one up alot cheaper from his mate in Eurocar Parts and we fitted it. Its not to difficult if you are at all mechanically minded, just stick the car on axle stands to get the car off the floor to give you some room to move.

AWWW!!

i think im just going to chat to a expert tomorrow...

as now iv heard a different story. After speaking to someone on ebay who sells cataylictic converters... the person told me that when its like hair coming out of the exhaust it is likely to be the silencer box...
the hair is usually from the silencer box not the cat--it may be excess if
the exhaust is new--or it may be braking up if it is an old one--i doubt it
is the cat.
