Central locking install

Post by alexperkins »

Well, last week saw some changes. I now have foglights, and also upgraded speakers, a 250W amp, and a nice new Blaupunkt HU.

Anyway, the point in the post is to tell you of my latest purchase - a central locking kit. Bought it earlier last week on eBay. I had been toying with the idea for a while, and was unsure of whether there was a kit to add central locking to a non-central locking polo.

If you know a bit about polo central locking, it works on a vacuum pump :P This is only an OEM option which kinda sucks, so i bought this snazzy kit that converts all the doors minus the boot to central locking. Its also got a remote key fob for keyless entry.

I would recommend getting one - they are very simple to fit, and take about 30 mins to an hour (Plus time to do the simple wiring to the power supply)

So finally, I have central locking :D

Cheers,

Alex

No visible wires - nothing replaced! It just bolts on to the metal rod that the little thing you use to lock and unlock the door screws onto! You will have to take the door cards off, and its a little fiddly in places with your hands, but its easy enough - an hour or so of work :) Wiring through the door is good fun, as you have to go through a multipin connector, but thats not too bad!
