Speed bumps/humps are seldom placed outside schools in this country - i've yet to see any anyway.Chally_Rai wrote:would you like me to prepare you all 'lets kill all the school children' banners too?
As a parent of 2, it is obviously a concern to me. I still think the yanks have the best system of a 20mph zone outside all schools.

They're bloody everywhere by me. There are even some (the type for bus's to go over that are just in the middle of road) that scrape the underside of my car when I go over them. My car isnt even lowered, Ok I know its a little lower that other Polos with the standard GT suspension, but not that much. It even does it to my mates Bora, and he's got the standard granddad suspension on his!
I do understand the need for them, cus some people are right tossers, but round here they seem to put them in random places (cul-de-sacs and stuff where you cant go fast anyway) but don't put any by schools

I can understand the need to slow traffic near schools, but all the speed bumps I have problems with are no-where near schools. The only ones i really object to are the ones that just go under the middle of your car and are flat at the edges, no matter how slow you go over them, you still worry - I've scraped my splitter on one and I only have standard GTI suspension.
There are other ways of slowing traffic down that don't damage cars!

i understand bumps....and the reasoning
but theres a road down here even standard cars struggle with
they had big bumps that had tiles peeling off so they wacked 4 inchs of tarmac on top - its like dropping off a curb no matter what speed
i dont mind bumps - id rather have a petition about pot holes tbh
