don't worry about the perspex at the rear.. replace the boot panel with a carbon kevlar single panel. you don't need to see behind you if your going faster than the other vehiclesRedline wrote:Lightweight alloys are always a winner! You forgot replacing the back windows with perspex ones though!
smaller wheels will shorten your gearing so you will accelerate faster

My Polo is pretty nippy and it's bog standard apart from the wheels! You need to get out of first before the other guy, then you'll be going when he's grabby second
Polo's main problem is its weight, mines a 3 door and the doors weigh a ton! VW gave it less power to make the engine last longer - not many V******s or F**d last over 100k miles without head jobs.

With the peugeout it would depend on the quality of the engine. When them pug engines are well looked after, there fast. Damn fast. My 1.1 205 used to have up 1.6 16v escorts and all sorts of things that should not have been possible. Off course once we got on the motorway well.. i got thrashed. but that second gear lasted from 20mph till 70mph and it was a beats.
So permitting that pug has a TU series engine (which i should imagine it does...) and similar injection to an XS then id imagine it would be pretty damn shifty.
Although the XS im certain was more then 75bhp, more along the lines of 90 i think... Good little engines till you rag em.

Just redline every gear and work on your clutch control. Dont wheelspin off the line and if your gonna do a rolling start make sure your sitting around 3 to 3 and a half grand of revs before you floor it. Your engine might not be too happy but you will be smiling all over his beaten ass.

didn't really get that.. anyway, another problem i had was coz my gears are so damn stiff i kept whacking it into neutral by accident which obv lead to me losing that 1.
Still, i did beat a modded 1.4 honda civic much to all ma posse's [joke, not actually a chav] amazement. "yeahhhh just luck mate" "nah, thats skill my brothers

Unfortunatelyyour polo's is probably slower due to having 8v when his probably has 16. However, although its very small, i'v noticed slightly better throttle response when installing an K&N kit. 8v's are slow in lower gears but i've raced my old 8v on a motorway trip to Bristol against a modified civic 1.6 16v coupe. My car overtook his at full speed much quicker then he managed to get it his to the top end.
Furthermore just last week I raced my 16v DOHC mpi off the lights against another modified civic 1.6 sport coupe. Lets just say he was a bit
at the next set of lights when I slowed down to let him past to c his reaction and I got the thumbs up from.
Obviously cos your cars also alot older than most modern 1.3s, 1.2s their likely to have better response due to improvements over the years. Theres not much you can do apart from manifolds, inductions and ECU chipping to make any difference

By the way I checked www.parkers.co.uk to get tec-specs of polo's and other cars such as civics and found out civics do have more torq, quicker 0-60 and higher top end then 6n 16v's ON PAPER ATLEAST. So it must be that civics drivers don't really no how to get most fro their cars.

Cause my mate has one and err... its fast... pretty damn fast... when that second cam jumps into place or whatever they shift bloody fast. This is without the turbo hes putting on aswell.

Thats the thing you have to fink about before racing civics, make sure its not a VTEC
Even if it was you can spot the ones that don't understand you have to keep VTECs above 6000revs when geting off the lights so they move off slow whilst i've dissapeared already
Use the right K&N 57i for your model or if you want slightly better acceleration then get the more expensive K&N kits if available, i've noticed pipercross kits don't compare to K&N and you certainly don't get the tsssss noise when you put the pedal to the metal
A slight bigger backbox lets the gases out easier but you don't notice much unless you've done a fair bit to the engine. Get a box thats too big and you loose power cos the gases ain't being forced out quick enough
I don't know much about performance but I learnt this tru fact at Turismo bodystyling and Pug performance who put a nitroused 3.0 V6 in my cuz's 306. Makes my mouth water and dream of puting a huge beast under my polo's hood
