Conversion Cost - GTi Engine

Post by MaxZ »

Was wondering what the total cost of putting a GTi engine in my car would be. I know I can pick up the engine, gearbox, clutch, clocks, loom for about 600/700 all in, but what goes on top of that

Think about the brake conversion, you'll be fine with your suspension set up as you've already upgraded. I am upgrading the ARB aswell max.

Alot of people say the GTI brake set up is crap, but good pads and discs and upgrade the hoses will help ALOT! :D

You should really think about doing the brakes if your planning on doing this.

As for costs? I got the complete engine, gear box ecu etc for £500 and £80 delivery off ebay... Sold my old engine for £235 on ebay.

As for fitting, i found a local lad whos doing it right now for £400.

Yes i didnt get the barkes upgraded... im a student and skint!!!

Anyway, my babys away right now... should be getting it back next week with its new heart pumping away :D

Cant wait, (as you can tell i cant sleep every night either). Watch this space for progress pics 8)
