1) Suspension has arrived



2) Car is booked in to have votex kit sprayed and fitted on the 12th/13th April, I am also having the bump strips sprayed and fitted. It'll be £360 fitted. Decided to spend the extra £130 for fitting.

3) Spent today sanding down the new bump strips, what a pain in the backside! I'll put up a DIY guide at some point. Got the side strips to do, bumper ones have the first coat of plastic primer on now.

bugger me does prepping and priming the bump strips take F O R E V E R! I highly recommend buying the primed ones from VW, this has taken me about 8 hours in total so far, and they are still at the second stage of priming.

one more coat to go, then a final 800 wet and dry ready for painting.

wish I'd not been tight and bought the proper ones!

That looks spot on mate. I didnt used to be fused on the 9N to be honest but after looking at this forum, I WANT ONE

exactly how I felt,

story goes - used to have a 6N, loved it, hated the 9N - too girly looking for me, then started to see some smoothed ones and thought "hmm, they don't look so bad".

2 years passed, then looked for a new car, tried BMW's, Audis, Leons, then saw a smooth 9N again and loved it! Although I ended up with a votex kit and no smoothing, I saw a 9N with the TT comps on and that pretty much sold it for me.

even the bump strips worked out, although there are a few bumps left in the tricky bits

thats a good price to be sprayed and fitted.

just had a quote for just my spoiler to be sprayed and fitted, cheapest i can get is £230!!!!!

most people take the mickey, you're right - just keep ringing around and eventually you'll find someone. you should be looking at about 100 spraying max and about an hour to fit.

I had quotes of 100 a piece just to spray. ouch.

I couldn't resist, the TT wheels were begging me! They are absolutely spot on in terms of size - the rears just slip inside the arch (when lowered ) and it transforms the car even more.

coilovers fitted, what a nightmare! the strut was seized into the bottom clamp, and it took about 2 1/2 hours per front quarter to do.

ouch.

so about 7 hours in total! and I've done this stuff before!

fronts were crazy-low, I've had to raise them twice. they go about 2 inches lower than they are, but I guess that's designed for a lighter engine. the wheels scrub when going over large undulations in the road at speed, so not sure how much damage this could cause if I was turning as well.... I believe it's just the inner arch mount, so I've removed the screw tonight and will keep an eye out.

rears are as low as they go, haven't taken the helper bush out because I prefer some refinement!
