The XSi is surprisingly quick, thats all i'll say. The polo should still be able beat it though

by the book the polo gti should beat it to 60mph by over a second - so from that i would say that the polo gti would win. Thats if both cars were standard 8)

the french know how to build light cars with punchy engines. I had a 205 XSi (1.4) and it was well fast for a 1.4 - possibly the fastest naturally aspirated 1.4 I've ever driven. The 106XSi uses the same engine

yeah there nippy wee cars, The ax gti has a 1.4 16 valve engine. 0-60 in just over 8 seconds and top speed of about 117mph. Very impressive for a 1.4! Have to remember thought the car weighs about 3 kilos!! Cheers

The 106XSi was the sporty pre-facelift 106 (a 1.4)- they also had a Rallye version which I think was a 1.4 but at that time there was no Gti.

They facelifted the 106 around 1997, and introduced the 106 Gti with 125bhp - a 1.6 16v

106 gti is only 120 iirc as its the same as a vts

tbh id expect the xsi to have some gain over the polo in lower gears - as said it is basically a tin can - but once rolling the polo would have no competition

yeh, the GTI and VTS are 120bhp......but now we are talking G40 pace with them 2. Tune a GTI to 140 or so and you should be easily matching if not beating stock GTI and VTS's.

They are rapid for some glue and paper!

the 106xsi came with a 1.4 multi point engine witha cat they run at about 93bhp without 100bhp the later date 106xsi came with 1.6 engine nearly the same as the 106 gti the rally was a 1.3. my girlfriend had the 1.4xsi which was de-cated, performance chip and many other extras this will eat my polo on everything performance, handling and its cheaper to run, insure and tax
