is it possibe to get a amp running of the head unit?

Post by Petrol_Head »

Iv had this speaker and sub for ages.. it was given to me for free. Eventually i got round to putting it in... and the sound quality was rubbish. I just hooked up the speaker not the amp...

anyway im being lazy... i dont want to have to hook a wire from thae battery all the way into the boot...

IS it possible to get a amplifier that runs straight from the headunit???

Not that I know of.

I wouldn't think the headunit would have enough power to get the amp going.

nope, the amp needs power from the battery...

even if u could, running a wire from your h/u to your boot is the same as running a wire from your battery, if not easier.

theoretically what you can do is run a sub from your h/u but realistically no-one does this as a h/u cannot produce enough power to get the sub going, hence the reason a sub needs a standalone amp of some sort.

with technology moving as fast as it is... i thought it maybe possible.. but didnt think it was likely.

But i was thinking... how cool would it be if all the wires dissapeared and the head unit used some kind of bluetooth.

You know you can link an ipod threw the radio with no wires... how come no one has done this with speakers??? Its just an idea... probably load of problems with it. BUT could be a dark invention.

Too many channels would cause interference, also think of the speed of transmission, with so much sound going on and frequencies going to different speakers. The wires do "disappear" if the fitting is to a high standard
