Im selling my sisters 97 polo. Its a 1L with 114,000 miles. Its been running fine since we bought it. However a couple who came to view it deceided they wanted to buy it and sods law its developed a problem. They are picking it up at the weekend so ive got 5 days to sort it. We have already agreed a price so I need to keep repair costs down.
THE SYMPTOMS:
After starting it first thing in the morning and driving 2 minutes down the road it starts hestitating and jerking slightly. This clears itself as soon as the engine warms up. The car can then be driven for the rest of the day with no problems.
If its a warm day then the problem is very faint but noticable, if its a cold day the problem is very obvious and takes longer to clear itself.
The spark plugs, air filter, oil filter and oil were changed 3,000 miles ago. The temperature guage reads normal and holds at 90 degrees.
Im guessing its not a fueling problem as this would be constantly there. Maybe the coolant temperature sensor.?
Any ideas are welcome im open to any suggestions.
Morning hesitation

update:
ok Ive had the car on a diagnostic machine and it said there was a problem with the oxygen sensor (lambda probe).
Off i went and fitted a brand new one with no success. The problem seems a bit more noticable now if anything.
Ive also cleaned the distributer cap and rotar arm.
The new owners are picking the car up on saturday. Anyone have any opinion on what i should try.? Will i replace the temp senso even though no fault was found on the diagnostic machine.?
