They are rapid for some glue and paper!
i was going to say i dont have any probs with 106gti's or saxos!

just on somthign someone else said on the previous page.

There was an AX GTI? I knew there was a Gt and i also know that ti ahs the same engine as the 205 XS, identical if memory serves.

That dude who said 205 XS are beasty wasnt lieing ive seen them ahve up 1.6 16v astras that were ten years younger then it. beasty little cars. 0-60 time is allegedly only a second or two behind the 1.6 GTI's (again iirc)

I miss my pug.

but not as much as i love my polo...

Yeh but the 1.6 16v astras arent quick.

I'm pretty much 99.9% sure there was no such thing as an AX GTI. There are a few references to it on the net, but I think it's cos of less informed people thinking it is a GTi, when infact it's not.

It wasn't called a GTI cos the AX GT ran carbs (without spelling the obvious - the i in GTi stands for injection - as in fuel injected).

Like most things french, once they reach a certain age they only are fit for the scrapper, which is where almost all of them are now.

out of curiosity, has anybody ever had a go at a 140bhp celica (new shape)

on parkers, the polo is quicker,

anoyyinng thing is also that on both parkers & whatcar the polo gti and the 106 gti have the same 0-60 and roughly the same top end.

shame the 106 is quicker

and, strangely, it should have been GTE like vauxhall did, as the word for injection in german begins with an "E"!

i think once rolling it'd be a case of driver ability more than car power

plus i know what id rather be in just incase anythin went wrong

I had a play against an XSI when I was driving the 1.6 8v. I'm sure he would of had me on speed but it was the handling really. I went round a corner a bit too fast (it was quite wet) and lost the back end, started heading towards the traffic lights sideways  but luckily my instincts got the better of me and I steared towards it just stopping at the stop line as if I had planned it. I let him go up the inside when they went green cos I was a little embarrassed
