are they easy to fit? i assume i dont have to get inside door panels. would it just connect to the central locking pump?
and what about wiring, any carpets that would have to be lifted up? also where would i put it?

No need for the door panels. It connects to the control module for the central locking. You would need a power source most likely from the battery which may invlove lifting some of the door surrounds or such like. Its an easy task - there is a grommit behind the airbox you can use to get cables in :)

i saw a remote locking kit on vag but it was the best part of 100 quid! so i am a bit concerned that this one is only £20.
where is the control module for the central locking?
sounds about time to get a haynes manual

are these units secure? if the battery goes, does it need to be re-coded? I would assume that the two fobs are paired to one unit and one unit only? :?

Ive never had a problem with mine - if the battery goes they just have to be repaired its simple. Its unlikely that would happen anyhow

i phonned the people up who are selling that locking kit on ebay and they just said its a universal kit for any car and probably will require some modifications that they say should be done by an expert. which i am not although i do know a bit about electrics.
any way, going to hunt around for a remote locking conversion specific for 6n2.

does any one know of any?

I think i might spend a bit more and go for the Vortex one on Vag but i noticed people have brought the mk3 golf version for their mk5polo's and i am sure i saw a remote central locking kit for the polo on the site. I dont suppose it matters which i get?? Shame the vag one doesnt come with the flip fobs to.

- update -
i am looking at this remote locking kit at the mo, just seeing if i can find a cheap alturnative to forking out £90 for the vortex one at vag.

if i do order this, does any one know how hard its going to be for me to set this up? I guess its not going to be a simple plug and play job.

I've got that kit ^^ quite easy to fit, I got a mate to do it though and he's got a mk3 golf and most of the wires were the same colour so he knew what he was doing. Only thing i haven't got working yet is the windows rollup feature and i still need to get a boot solenoid to get the boot button to work.

if you need help with it just pm me
