NEED HELP ON HOW TO CHANGE YOUR GEAR KNOB???

i purchased a replacement gear knob for my car because the numbers on the old one had faded, and i cant seem to replace it when i lift the cover theres a gold clip stuck the the bottom of the knob?? need help! let me know if you have done it before thanks

thats the clip..... yeah u need to get a small screwdriver down the gap in the clip and just prise it open slightly and the whole unit comes off i wanted to do this and got that far but i couldnt get the gaitor away from the knob so a hand with that would help me too
