Hi guys, i'm driving a 1.8T Polo GTI i'm planning to lower my ride, do you guys have any ideas? cuz my baby having lots of body row when i go throw corners....
- how low should i go for?
- should i change the supension set or just change the spring?
- What brinds should i look for a set of spring?
what if i just change the spring will there be any problems? because i need to earn more cash for a supension set...
the pro street s eibachs use kw suspension leg's (dampers) and their own eibach springs, trust me iv tried about 6 different suspension setups on my previous polo gti turbo inc kw with kw springs, konis koni fsd's eibach pro, and its the pro street s coilover kit is the one to have
I need coileovers for my new 1.8T Polo GTI, rang Koni, Eibach, KW, H&R etc and they all said kits not available yet, still in testing. Was advised not to use a kit not specifically for the GTI as weights of engines are different so kit for say a 1.9 GT would not have correct setup although it would fit.

that's odd, only because all of those coilover makes supply just one kit for the whole 9N/9N2 range. and the 1.8 engine would fit in between the tdi and the petrol lumps in terms of weight.
did I chat to you today about this?! If so the tightly wound coils you saw on my rears were the top of my suspension, lower down the spring at the back there's still a good 2 inches of movement available.
Hi, yes we did talk till we got cut off by my bloody battery Thanks for your advice. I went to the Koni stand and had a real good talk with their technical bloke there. I said would it work to get a generic set maybe with damping adjust and tune them to my own preference. He said I could get away with it but it wouldnt be right. In some cases he said having uneven weight distribution via the suspension rebound could actually cause an accident ie the bouncy effect you get when some people put lowering springs on standard shocks etc. Now Im not that picky but Id kinda like to get it right as the polo certainly doesnt handle as well as my Lupo Gti and dont really want to make it worse. Maybe Im expecting to much, after all bumpy back roads and coilovers set low dont really go together like strawberries n cream. Why cant bloody VW make the cars without huge amounts of air between wheels n tires grrrr
September for both the Koni and Eibach kits apparently. Im wondering why matey on here says he has an eibach pro street S kit, maybe he has used a 9n kit also? Got my wheels back today so now proud owner of TT Competitions diamond cut with Yokohama Parada, yum! Neil
I'm impressed they're doing a set specifically for the GTI. Only because I've never seen coilovers for a specific polo rather than the whole range. I'll wait till I see it for sure in September!
Shame you don't live near me, I could have taken you out to demo the coilovers from KW. A vast improvement from the standard sport setup. I know I have a TDI lump but if you can find out the weights of the cars I'd be amazed if it was a huge amount more for the TDI.
The KW variant 3s I've heard are very very hard setup.

now awesome gti and vw racing combined have given me the part number i got for my eibach pro street s coilovers
saying as has already been mentioned, the 1.8t engineis in between petrol and derv engine weights and so fits in nicely
i have sharp predictuive handling and no mis matched drive or feelings in hard on the limit cornering, its quite simply a go cart and i advise people not knock the setup until trying it, its the best iv found and i had 4 different setups on my original red polo turbo totalling over £2.5k inc different springs only setups, different springs and damper combos and normal eibach coilovers and the pro street s coilovers
the pro street s are by far the comfiest, shaprest setup and i love them, they are also the only coilover setup iv used which does not make noises, e.g. creaks and noises whilst driving and parking, high and slow speeds, which was a must for me as im most fussy
I have been talking to Julian Gill at Eibach and he replied most promply tonight??? guess he must work from home, good sign. Anyway he said that the only reason they are not releasing the shock as specifically for the GTI at the moment is the TUV approval, Ive asked him if its the same as for the 9N range and just waiting for a reply, but I guess he will say it is. The Germans have to test them to make sure they dont have another elk test disaster like they had with the Merc, but he said if I was prepared to buy them its not problem as they do fit and do perform real well (like you previoulsy said). I specifially asked him if the kit they would sell would be the same as the old one so if he says yes I will get it. How much did you pay for yours, I believe they are much cheaper than the KWs, 500 and something?
Oh by the way boys who do you get your insurance through and do you declare all the mods. I think thats my next problem as I plan a Custom-Code remap and DV. Ive heard green flag are quite good.
