hello oilers, I'm looking for your advice/thoughts on your TDi's.
Due to a change in jobs I'm going to be covering over 1000 miles a month and am looking at TDi polo's - at the moment i have a 6N2 Gti which will be up for sale soon
Is there anything I should look out for when buying one?
Also, how do you like the diesels? Are they fairly quick? How is the noise level?
Any help appreciated
to all oil burners
i would definately recomend a diesel mate. ive got 6n2 tdi se and i love it.
at the moment its basic engine wise but still very enjoyable. its only 75 hp but quite impressive especially on the torque side. i think at best ive got about 400 and a bit miles out of tank and to be honest i dont really drive slow.

as i always say to everyone, diesels are the way forward!
even tho the polo was my 1st car i didn't hesitate going for a diesel as i drove my dads bora 130 PD TDi beforehand and they are so economical and so much fun! fair enough it lacks abit at the top end of the speedo but the torque more than makes up for it.. i was surprised how it quick it is off the mark for a 1.4!
have to say u do have to keep it on turbo to get the most out of it (about 2-2500 rpm), taking it to redline then switching gear does leave abit of turbo lag... but then some fella on here done a remap and said it sorted it out, no longer died out after 3500 rpm... definitely on my list of things to do!
fuel economy is superb! i don't have any exact figures but i went from london to leeds and back on one tank with some left! i think this adds to the enjoyment as u can have abit of fun without burning as much fuel as a petrol!
from inside the cabin, the engine noise is hardly if at all noticeable except at high revs, but then which car isnt? motorway driving the noise level is good, might recall jeremy clarkson taking a 1.4 TDi lupo on a lap of M25 and he sang its praises backing this point up... ok maybe from outside the engine noise is there but put on a sebring exhaust with a K&N induction kit and it gives it a nice deep tone, inside and out of the car!
