Radio Trouble

Hello there, i am new to this forum, though i have been viewing for several months.

i recently encountered a problem with my stereo. I had originally changed from the standard VW beta radio/cassette to a JVC cd player. now i have decided to change back.

every time i turn on the radio it asks me for a radio code. I enter the code and the unit works fine. but then when i turn the unit off and back on again i have to re enter the code.

is there a way of overcoming this or is it like that forever now?

any help is appreciated.

it would seem that your constant power cable is broken somehow, you'll need to see why the radio is losing power when you turn the ignition off. you should always have a constant source for the radio even when the ignition is off.

did you change any of the wires around for your JVC to work?

Sounds like the red wire yellow wire problem

(they need to be swapped!)

i did add an adapter so that the JVC would store information and this adapter overcame the red/yellow problem which i had been informed about.

Sorry, it does still work when the engine is switched off as long as the key is till inserted.

Did you take the adaptor back out - because if you didnt thats your problem. Otherwise, it could be your ignition power fuse somethink like fuse 18 i think. Had this problem with a mates car the other day
