Had an amber dash light come on just at lunchtime and i need help in identifying it as i have not got the manual to hand.
The car is a 1.4 TDI and im guessing its something to do with the ignition coils as that is what the light looks like. An amber warning light with a coil on it.
This is on all the time now and wont go off even if the car is restarted.
Can anyone tell me what this is and more importantly if this will cause any damage if i drive it?
The car was bought from a dealer only 3 weeks ago so is still under dealer warrenty but i would like to know what it is so i sont cause any more damage.
Sounds like the glow plug light.
The glow plugs warm the cylinders for a second or two before you start the engine. The light tells you when they are working.
If it is on all the time i guess there is a fault with the glow plugs. Sorry cant be more helpful.
Yeah its flashing at the moment but im just going to take it to the get the codes read tonight. Dont fancy my nice new car going t**s up in the first month
Is the normal fix for this just a new set of glow plugs?
in my case a wire to the alternator had snapped which meant the battery wasn't being charged properly! not sure why the glow plug light was flashing but it hasn't done it since it was fixed!
This has just happend to mine! The glow plug light came on and started flashing and so has the ABS and ESP light! I have had the ESP light on before and it was a code fault, will take it to the dealers tomorrow - fingers crossed.
