Craig's dumb question no.387,240 (3, alloys!)

Post by CraigMK4 »

Yup I'm back lads and ladies, uni's finished for the year, the girlfriends gone so it gives me some nice time, and saved up money from a holiday I won't be going on now (b%&$h.) so time to treat myself and the dub!

I want to get some alloys innit... but i have absolutely no idea about offset and all that, so if anyone could explain EVERYTHING to me there is to know about alloys that would be sweet, i'm sure theres others on here that would appreciate all your wisdom!

Tied between 15's or 16's, and occasionally 17's rock my boat :p just dont want my car looking like a tractor lol obviously everyone has their own opinions, but lets hear them!

Also, if anyones selling any.. shout!

Budgets £300 at the max, thats allowing for lowering just in case of tractoritus.

Cheers guys!

1) you should easily be able to do that for £300
2) set aside £100 for a nice set of springs and fit them yourself
3) £200 should see you get some nice 15's with 195x45x15 rubber on them

15's need to run 195x45x15 tyres. other profiles do work but that is the one that really suits the mk4

7inch wheels fit on no problem providing the offset is 30 or less. 8 inches will fit on as will 9, but other people will be able to help more on that matter.

my ET30 7" Rials fitted like a glove with no mods.

LOL, seriously - do a google

it is the distance between the centreline of the alloy and where the alloy sites on the hub.

the lower it is, the more the wheel sticks out into the road. an offset of zero means the hub of the car sits on the centreline of the alloy.
