remote central locking.
got my kit through the post today
havent fitted it yet but got my self a haynes manual just to check what i am doing. Haris has given me a lot of info on it which has helped (cheers man) but i am just wondering where to connect the +/- cables, i know they need to go to the battery but is there some where i can connect them to and are the cables going to have to run into the engine bay or is it all done in the dash?
shame i cant find any walk throughs - may have to make one for future people like me when i figure it all out

after making the mistake of connecting this unit to the central locking pump (d'oh)
i was told to connect it somewhere at the front of the car betweek the pedals and the steering wheel...
soo i took off all the panels and now i have the job of connecting them up, but i am not sure what i am connectiong what to and connection what to what..

okay, here is the wiring diagram i got with the kit.
if you look it says the yellow and yellow/black go into the 12v line where the red wire from the unit is going. So i just wanted to ask could i just connect the yellow and yellow/black straight onto the red from the unit going to the 12v.

here is a pic of the unit..
okay so i need to connect the red cable onto the + from the battery, So i take a guess that the red cable in the cars loom is the + from the battery.

you can see where the red clip is - that is the cable i marked out for power. But i have no idea weather or not it is power
lol
also in the diagram picture i need to connect the open and close wires which on the unit are white and white/black - in the loom going to the drivers door there is a white/yellow cable - white/green and white/brown i think its just the w/yellow and w/green that go to the pump so i assume those two cables are the ones i need to connect to.
can some one confirm this????
also then i need to sort out me flashers
thanks for the help[/list]

I am also looking into doing this, i have seen those kits before but since i am not very clued-up on modern vehicles..( bring back the mark 1 escorts / cortinas / capris rofl ) i will have to find an auto electrician.. it cant be a difficult job prob a 1 or so for him.. lol.. might be worth the expense..
now i know how to do it, its easy lol as you would expect. haynes manual did help and some guys on club polo where able to point me in the right direction when it wasnt working.Sludgehammer wrote:I am also looking into doing this, i have seen those kits before but since i am not very clued-up on modern vehicles..( bring back the mark 1 escorts / cortinas / capris rofl ) i will have to find an auto electrician.. it cant be a difficult job prob a 1 or so for him.. lol.. might be worth the expense..
maybe i should write a guide on how i did it then atleast people who where in my situation wouldnt end up spending a week thinking about how to do it.
if you know what your doing it should only take 20mins if that!

you say its easy to do, does your windows work with this aswell?
also which one did you go for the £100 one or the £30 one?
mine was a £30 one from ebay, and i havent done the windows yet, they where going up and down when i opened the car and up when i locked them for a while lol when i had done something wrong.Sludgehammer wrote:Now that is a VERY GOOD IDEA get a how to done!!!PD wrote:maybe i should write a guide on how i did it then atleast people who where in my situation wouldnt end up spending a week thinking about how to do it.![]()

apperntly the wire for the window roll up is - and the wire on the car is + (or the other way around) and so you need to get a relay to sort that out ( or so i am told )
but yeah mine was a nightmare to fit. spent a lot of time hassling h4ris lol

there is no alarm system. it is just the remote locking kit and 2fobs and yes they are the flip key fobs.Sludgehammer wrote:So this is not a simple task to do then. lol..
how did you go about your key with the keyfob ones or was yours the simple alarm keyfob type not the flip key one?
some pics...
with the kit i got you are given some blank keys that you can go get cut. it only cost me £2.50 to get that done.
Heres a link to my kit....
