GTI conversion.... completed!! :D

Post by randy »

As title states....my poor little old 1.4 16v is now a nice GTI lump with bmc induction kit!

And OMG... what a F**KING difference!! Was wet when i got it back... wheel spin 1st, wheel spin 2nd and yes wheel spin 3rd!!

Amazing response (in comparison to before) and great pull. Now i know what you gti boys love so much.. Yeh so i mite not have the gti luxuries (air con, heated seats etc) but hey im now an adrenaline junkie... Even just having the car back a few days makes me want to make it go faster!!

I LOVE IT! :D :D

Trying to get the progress pics off the mechanic... not happening :( So will take pics of engine during the day.

Rolling on steelies aswell after selling the 17" chromes :( NOT good for handling, really need to save some cash and get some sexy gti rxii's!

Oh yeh, did i forget to say...i love it! CHEESING!!

is it really that quick?? lol...i can't wait now...getting excited and making me smile knowing i've dumped the 20v conversion for something just as fun and cheaper. :D

btw...i replied to your post about the problems you listed in the engine area of the forum...

why did it not start for you and you only had lights showing on the clocks?? :?:

Dee-vub and dubprince - I dont have a clue what was wrong, we just got an auto sparky in to sort the problem.

CymruPolo - I love my car, it would have probably only got £2k for it and i probably would have spent £4k PLUS on a gti. I got the GTI engine for £500, sold old engine for about £250 and spent about £800 getting it fitted, parts. Creature comforts dont bother me, i think i have done well now seeing my polo is giving me the performance figures the gti boys have 8)

Oh and heres some pics i took after a quick wash, on steelies until i get some cash to get some gti rims. :D

And heres what the car looked like with the 17s:

not having the air con allows u to get more out of the engine, plus makes the engine slightly lighter without extra radiator etc... so its not all bad not having air con, except maybe when summer kicks in!

I had a feeling my polo MAY be slightly lighter than a gti, and as a result maybe even more responsive.

Im not fussed about air-con, ive lived without it for the last 3 years!

Thats if you don't mind mate...Cheers. sanj.

Supposedly the air con can take up to 5bhp away
