Mk4 Rear Wiper

Post by Golfather »

Hi all.

This is my first post, and what a relief to see such a thriving Polo scene.

I've bought a Polo 1.6 GLX (1995) for my other half....and slowly the modifying bug has taken over.

I'm keen to change the rear wiper for a smoother replacement.

I've seen a few different rear wipers on various Polo's

Can anyone suggest what donor vehicle could supply the cleanest and smartest look.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Golfather, and welcome!

(cool nick)

Anyway -

I've replaced my stock rear wiper with the Variant (Stationwagon?) version. It fits 100%, no cutting or modifying needed. You only need the arm and the cap of your local VW dealer (or breaker, or even better: VAG Parts!) and you can keep the current blade.

Here's how it looks:

Part numbers:

6K0 955 707 (arm)
6N0 955 435 A 01C (cap)

The cap may actually be the same as the Mk4 one, but it's not that expensive and I broke one within a few months whilst washing the car. Doesn't hurt to have it around if it's identical.

Total cost is roughly 10 pounds, but check first.

HTH!

hey hows it goin! On my polo i have fitted the Polo 9n rear areo wiper, however its not a great fit and with the cap on I can't seem to use the rear wash as the jet hits the cap, so although it looks really nice i would say go for the one off the polo estate (the one speedlaw has).

I've tried modifying my cap for the aero wiper but no luck heh :( might change back soon

Thx Guys,

That wiper is so smooth!
Exactly the one i was after.
So you'd recommend VAG Parts - a guess it's a simple mail order service, right?

Yeah, Martyn will sort you out. They have their own forum section at the bottem, click here.

In general they offer better prices than the dealer, but ask about shipping, etc.
