FKs still for sale.

Wheels now complete with VW wheel nut caps ;) It's the simple things!

On another note, just spent a couple of hours cleaning the car and went over any stone chips with a touch up pen I got from VW today. Much happier now there are no "really obvious" marks....

another pic for the collection

just been up North to brum and a house party with ex workmates who used to mock me for my "car modifying"

everyone loves it, some aren't sure what it is (so I may remove the polo badge for more confusion!) and one guy just said "all you've done is wheels" so that's another good thing for the OEM+ look

:)

quite happy I managed to get good comments from everyone including the non-car lovers. but I am their landlord so maybe that tips the scales :)

I want to get rid of mine as well!! But not sure if it leaves a dark 'polo signiture' behind in the paintwork..Mines a 2002.. so its the badge has been on it for a good 4-5 years!!

nothing some cutting compound won't be able to get rid of. 4-5 year old? that's nothing! I removed my mk4 one and it was fine.... after about 10 years.

just thought I'd post an update, I've had a few questions about the wheels and so on.

the long and the short of it iis that 7.5x17 wheels with 205x40x17 tyres need to have a tiny bit of inner arch and liner modifications for them to be slammed.

the process is as follows: undo the arch liner bolt at the top of the liner on the outside edge of the wheelarch at or near the top. it's obvious - and sticks out about 10mm from the liner because of the supporting metal tab.

now bend the tab as far back as you can. cut the liner with some pliers enough to be able to then tuck the liner BEHIND the tab. This gives you about another 10mm of clearance. this is tight but you can do it.

with this clearance you can now lower on those wheels about 70mm. Depends on the initial ride height, but you can lower it enough to have a 10 - 15mm gap between the top of the tyre and the wheelarch.

I have had NO rubbing with this set up. no full lock problems, nothing.

==========================

on another note, the badges have now gone and I failed to remove a small dent in the boot. should have used a pro!

lastly, got my PD160 intake fitted and hope to get it chipped at GTI International......

just got the remap done by RichardBW, will review this later. Probably up about 20% more power at a guess. 30-70 with a fully laden car, full fuel and Joe is at about 8.5 secs with a PD160 and big assed wheels, compared to 10.5 before (we did the same stretch). Not the surge of Torque I expected by definitely revs far more freely to the redline.

here's the better clip, just me in the car and a two thirds full tank of fuel. I make it about 8 seconds dead from exactly 30 to 70mph.
