Personal number plates...

Post by cyhliu »

Chaps, need some advice...on number plates...what is the law regarding the use of a screw to cleverly turn a letter or more commonly a number into a letter? Like turning the number 11 into a 'H' by placing a strategic black screw in the middle between the 1's.

Will you get into trouble?

Cheers...i know I can rely on you guys...

it is illegal to mis-interpret your number plate in any way by adding/removing screws, changing the font, spacing, lettering etc etc etc

Thanks chaps...lucky I mentioned it before buying! Pants...looks like I'll never have chance to have my own personal number plate! (Personalised number plates are for posers...I'm not bitter...honest!) heh heh!

I blame my parents for giving me such a difficult name...why could I just have W212 KBT? damnit!

do what josh said. dodgy on the front, proper on the back.

on my golf i had a teeny plate on the front and got pulled over 11 times in 3 months, 2 producers, and a £30 fine!! Police even followed me down my road, and pulled me over outside my house!!

on the back I have a plate with the smaller motorbike size letters. This plate has been on my car for over 3 years, and passed every MOT since with it on... yet one bored policeman in Newquay for RTTS decided to pull me and give me a producer for it... Put it back on after the festival and no more grief since!!

This was the front plate that gave me the trouble......

Cheers but I think I've given up on the idea of having the number plate, maybe when I get more money together. I don't want to be risking anything and I've been going on about lowering my car for ages so I guess I can get that done instead...Thanks chaps!
