Suspension fitting...?

Post by daa709 »

Hello,

Just got some lowering springs from vagparts.. only problem now is that my local dealer wants £210 to fit it  !!

Anyone got any ideas on how to fit it myself or is it really worth spending and taking it to the pros? I'm really stuck :?

Oo and on a side note, just ordered an Pioneer touchscreen AVIC-D3 headunit for my car with the ipod and bluetooth! Can't wait to fit it and will post pics when its done.

Cheers

£210 is very steep mate, if you want to install them yourself you`ll need to buy a Spring Compressor plus your standard tools. A work as an mechanical fitter in a power station and heard a story of one of the old guys about changing his springs, he never released the tenision on them and it "sprung" out and basically smashed him in the face!!! Nice site! So basically a think get sumone who knows what there doin to do it, for your safety too, a would be looking at £70ish to do it, not £210!!!

My local dealer charges £100 an hour labour. Even for a mechanic to take off original suspension and fit coilovers, not to mention getting the right ride height after putting wheels on and taking them off etc. , your looking at over 2 hours.
