I need your help please

Post by shanethb »

To cut a long story short, i am doing a group buy on another forum for the Seat Air Intake. (PD160 you call it i think) I was given one price when i made contact first 40UKP each if i recal rightly. But when i went to order them i got told 65UKP. What i want to know is, Did Seat increase the price of these like i have been told or am i getting a raw deal.

This is where you come in.....
As i live in Australia i just cant pick up the phone and ring Seat so would one of you kind people be able to do this for me and confirm the price increase for me. As a 25 pound increase is roughly $70 AUD. Let me know what you find out please.

The difference might be the VAT.

I payed it 37 EUR which is about 25 ukp.

65 ukp for a piece of plastic ? Would be ridicilous..

even at 40UKP, that sounds a tad expensive to me! i paid around 26UKP from a Seat dealer back in 2005 and the last time i checked for a mate a couple of months ago, that price had not changed much!

You do need both the pipe and the trumpet together as the trumpet on the car has a different 'exit' diameter to the PD160 pipe.
I've owned three of these pipes now on three different cars so am quite familiar with them by now!!!

Shane, my best advice to you would be to register on seatcupra.net/forums and arrange a multiple buy (in one shipment) via one of their friendly dealers on there. They have seperate forum sections for dealerships that offer discounts to members. One of the dealers may be willing to ship a bunch to you if you're nice to them!

For reference, the first PD160 pipe I bought was for my Ibiza 130 back in about 2004. It cost me new about £30 I think, maybe slightly more, sold it for £25. Next one I bought for my Fabia vRS was about £20 second hand. I sold it for £20 too. I've just bought another second hand one (a bit more worn than my last one) for £25 as the pipe and trumpet have indeed gone up quite considerably if you want to get a new one. To be honest I wouldn't bother fitting one unless you have quite extensive engine mods as they don't make any difference in my experience to just a re-mapped car. I'll fit mine to my Polo soon though to see if there's any difference to the petrol engine. Doubt it.
