Wont Start???

Post by chrisash32 »

Hi all!
Went out in the car today, was fine.
When we came to come home, the car would not start.
There was a picture of a key flashing on the dashboard.
Now the manual said this is a faulty immibiliser.

Anyway after about 7 attempts the car starts and the key continued to flash.
So i turned it off again and once again it wouldnt start, after another few try it started again but with no flashing key.....

soooo, key or car? lol

Good job it is at VW tomorrow, just another one for me to add to the list! lol!!!

Sounds a bit like the transponder for the immobilizer in the key is on the blink. Only other thing I can think of is if a neighbour's car has a similar transponder frequency to yours that it re-sets yours when they either lock or unlock their car causing your ECU to not recognise your key for a few cycles. Unlikely but possible.
