sorry to hijack your thread PD but im on the same boat as you are. i want to lower the olop but dont know how low i can go without compromising the practicality of the daily runner. there seems to be a lot of people who have lowered by -60mm, anyone experienced any scrubbage at this height?

my concern is the alloys are on a considerably low offset of ET25 and they are slightly poking out of the car. im almost certain that any amount of substantial lowering will cause me headaches.

so just like PD, im interested in what people have to say.

check pic... vvv vvv vvv

Dubpilot - I have lowered my GTi 60mm although it looks lower than max's did on the same springs so that be because its a GTi. Anyway, I also have ET25 wheels and have just had some minor arch work done to prevent scrubbage, seems to have done the trick!

I have one of the above mentioned suspension kits. I'm at 60mm front, 40mm back, and I have 15x7J ET37 wheels all round, I get rubbing at the back when the road surface is uneven. This is because I'm running 20mm spacers at the back. I tend not to worry though, I'm pretty used to rubbing now.

*free plug* I have a set of H&R springs lying around somewhere. They lower the car about 35mm-ish. Much better than most other brands. I noticed a subtle change in ride quality with them on. They were very good. Shame, since I wanted to go lower. It's like a habit, I guess

Ok, I have bbs ra's which are 15" and et37 7j. Anyways I HAD 195/50/15 tyres on and I couldnt take 3 people in the back as she would scrub non stop. The front arches (the plastic cover inside the arches I mean) were also wrecked by any sharp cornering or over any bumps. Last friday I replaced all four tyres to 195/45/15 tyres and all scrubbing has gone except when I hit a huge big bump which is quite rare tbh. Id say try and get a 50mm front and back maybe to be on the safe side as I knw my wheels stick out quite a bit and their a higher et.

I would say probably not as these wheels don't stick out too much.

GTi would be naturally 15mm lower, as the top suspension components are different. With 60mm on 195/45/15 tyres you will have no problems at all, even with 4 people in the back.
