6n 5dr Euro Style

Post by Grindhouse »

Greetings!

I'm new here got my polo a few months back, its a 5 door 1.3 CL. Didnt really know what was best to do, wanted to keep the practicality of the 5 door but love the look of the 3 door...soo.. i'm turning the 5 door euro!

Debadged the first day i got her

So far i've been collecting the parts i need. Found some Enkei 14inch alloys (will be here wednesday)

I have clear front and side indicators ready to go on with chrome bulbs and i was considering MK5 rears (any opinions?) Debadged grille is ready to go on too.

I'm putting 175/60/14 tires on so same size as the standard 13" steels.

I'm thinking coilovers down to 60-70 (roads are preatty bad around here though)

And of course i may get rid of the side strips and maybe get the handles colour coded.

Anybody else modded 5dr's? cant seem to find any photos. Suggestions/opinions as to my ideas would be helpful! cheers

very sexy. Mines a 5 door and its awesome.

I actually think the polo is the only car that looks better in a 5 door imo. Strange i know but i think it looks too stumpy with 2 doors.

hey man. its gonna look good! Id deffo say take off the side strips its a dead simple mod and does make it look a lot smoother. I have a 5 door - im adding the 16 valve bumoers fogs etc and im planning on dehandling the rear door so it looks like a 3 door but still has the practicallity of a 5 door. 1st priority is getting it lowered though lol

I have heard recently that you need to have to be able to open the rear doors from the outside for MoT!!! Can anyone confirm this at all? As I wanted to do exactly the same, dehandle rears but still have the doors without welding them up!!!

yeh not sure i heard rumours of this as well but i read somewhere that they changed it to legal again because 70% of doors wont open in an accident anyway. i cant see why back doors wld be a problem tho tbh but i will look into it

Yeah seems a bit silly really. Think they just do it to annoy people. Anyway if you can get a firm answer that would be great.

right just checked in at the body shop 2day, they quoted me £500 roughly to rehandle, smooth and add poppers to the rear doors. However he said theres a new law that means there must be a means of entry from the outside of the car meaning youd have to have external poppers somewhere, but he wasnt sure because i only wanted the back doors done i might not need it as arguably you could still get in through the front. £500 is quite a bit im not sure i can be bothered lol, any1 no where i can get this done cheaper?

That's not a great deal really for the work involved, welding, smoothing, spraying etc then the electrical side for the poppers.

i was just thinking about this but if u did have the money to smooth the door handels off and put in poppers it would technically be something like a 3 door polo. on the outside ..right??...and as u said that there has to be an outside opening for emergenices isnt it possilbe to be like a 3 door polo and put in for example a 3 door interior therefore wouldnt that also technically be abidng with the law as it would practlli be the same way tthey take out passengers from the back by titlting the seats forward or if worse comes to worse which i hope it doesnt through the top of the roof :? just a though guys :D
