Help Headlight removal

Post by OpenAir »

Hi all I am trying to change the passenger side headlamp unit on the motor as it's being re-tested tomorrow.

The replacement I have has a bolt at the front - how do I remove this on the existing unit? I can't even see how to get at it!!!

Any help appreciated (I knew I shoulda got that haynes manual before now  )

Hi Openair

Here's how to do it:
  • Remove indicators (bolt on top iirc)
    Remove grille
Remove plastic surround (around grille and under lights)
Undo 2 screws on top of light unit
Undo 1 torx screw under the light towards the front of the car (where the plastic surround used to be). It's in the middle of the light if you get what I mean.
Hope this helps?

Cheers Josh

I was also told elsewhere that I needed to remove the front bumper :?:

finally got it! I couldn't see how to remove the strip that goes underneath each lamp so ended up buying a haynes manual and it told me of a screw that I hadn't seen in the darkness last night!

All sorted :D

(also had major problems getting the reg plate light holders out and now they don't sit back in properly)

had exactly the same problem with the reg lights... mine were well secure and after putting them back in they move about slightly... ah well.
