Ibiza Splitter tips

Hello people
rioht i've just got my ibiza splitter from a Seat garage and im going to be fitting it next week
its obvious its too long for my car but i've heard that they fit with modification?
any help would be great or anyone who has one on their car already

they fit alot of cars apparently
and i know theres a dude on here who has one fitted, can't remember his name though gah.

it appears i have to cut off both ends to make it fit

aaaahhh yeh you do see those on a lot of cars. Though i think the venty looking things on it make it look funny.

Still you never know till you get it on i guess. If you colour code it it might look sweet aswell. I know the GTI's look sexy as when theyre splitters are colour coded...

DIY only for the brave at heart! here's a pic to help you along...

my top tip is take both front wheels off and pop your car on axle stands, it will make your life easier seeing under the car and you can make sure the whole length of the splitter will go on the car...

remember, fit the whole thing first before you cut! dont rely on your measuring skills. as soon as you have it on the car, mark with coloured pencil from the edge of the bumper then cut with a very sharp knife, its the only way you can get close to achieving a good fit... oh, goodluck, you'll need just as much patience as the amount of modification to do this.

dubpilot - Your splitter looks cool but i reckon it would looks so much better if you colour coded it!

and yeah i kinda thought it would make life easier, sounds like a challenge.

also how did you fix it in place?
i have the existing plastic lip at the front, does that need to come off?

yep, you have to be left with the lower part of the bumper with the rectangular holes exposed where the old lip used to fix itself. you'll need the old lip as a template to see which clips align with the ibiza splitter, then cut away those that dont... try and spare as much clips as you can as the more clips you can spare the better it will fix to the bumper.

the major modification will be at both ends of the ibiza splitter where you have to cut into shape the last clips of the ibiza splitter, iirc they are wider than the clips on the original splitter. these two at both ends will hold them tightly onto the car, so i spent the whole afternoon getting them right.

sounds exhausting? dont mean to discourage you but i did come to a point of swearing and almost giving up, in the end... it didnt come out as perfect as i wanted as you'll notice the curvature is completely different to the original lip. this is where that hot gun you find in good body shops come in quite handy.

when fitting, start from the middle then pull as hard on the b***h going out to the edge of the bumper, this is the part when i realised how different the curvature is.

if you get the edge clips perfect, it should just click in.
