respray?
hey guys, just went to the local garage today, need to get the little fiddly bit under the grill resprayed ( bought a new one as the guy before broke all the clips to put a shoddy DIY mesh "grill"). Got a quote of around 100 pounds
Now i don't know if this is really cheap and to grab the chance, or if its too expensive and i should search around for more quotes?

that thread has a good guide if the pics work for you.
its alot cheaper and easyer if you can get a paint mach from vw in a tin can £10 for a can on colour coded paint.

ah, it's just the surround.
I still stick with my thoughts, as most bodyshops won't even lift a finger for anything less than £60, as they have to buy the paint in anyway. you'll find that whether it's a wing or a 2p piece they'd still charge the same quite often, then any extra for the fitting.
if you take them a surround and say "spray this" then it could be £70 or whatever, and then fit it yourself?
may as well DIY it to begin with, as this'll only cost about £20. as long as you flat the paint and polish it afterwards, it'll probably look OK. then you can shop around for quotes.
perhaps a small bodyshop might just buy the cans from VW to do the job if you ask them? anyone's guess.

yeh a small bit like thatwld be worth having a crack at it yourself. think thers some guids on here for spraying but basically u just gotta sand it down, primer it, paint and laqour and it should look alrite. Im with dave if you take it off and refit it yourself youll probs save a bit its well easy to do you just unclip the grille and whack off the indicators and its two screws shdlnt take more than about 10 mins

Tattooroo, got the part from a scrappy. Apparently I was well lucky as that particular part just gets snapped up straight away, and the car had just come in that morning! Got it for £20 as well as the original polo grill, so not too bad i dont think.
Yeah i know what u guys mean about the fitting,we took the part out of the original car, so its definitly not a hard job. Hopefully though a mate of mine is gonna hook me up with someone who wont charge for labour, mates rates n all because i dont trust myself with the car right now, once i get my hands abit more dirty with it, then ill start doing stuf on my own. Cheers guys for all the advice though!
