Courtesy Car Charge.

Post by alanred »

Just rang the Stealers for a quote on a 50k service, i wanted them to supply a courtesy car, i was then told that they now charge £10 for it because they are owned by someone else
Has anyone else been told this or are they taking the p*** ? (again)

Thanks.

Chrisash 32, i could write a book about the poor customer service at G. Lawton M/cr, thats where i got mine from, and thats where i'm banned from too.
I tell everyone who will listen about that place, worst i've ever experienced,
I can feel the blood pressure rising right now... :D

Thats where i got mine from too, who sold you the car?
I have never had a problem with the guy that sold me the car and he usually does his best to help me if i have probs with the after sales.

Had my car booked in there on a Saturday morning two weeks ago.
Was booked in for 10:30, so i turn up and there is one person on the service desk!!! he is sat with a man and they are arguing over why his car failed its MOT. I stood and waited and waited (was only going in for a new glove box!) an hour went by and i went to the desk to give them they keys, only to he told they cant do my car because i am an hour late!!!

Grrrrrrr!

Most insurance policies cover you for up to 7 days on a courtesy car from a garage while yours is being repaired, serviced or MOT'd. Check the small print.

I only found out when i rang my insurance co to ask how much to add it on and they pointed this clause out to me.

Before i bought this polo off them i went in there with a lady friend to have a look over an 04 plate golf she was buying, it all seemed ok so she done the deal.
I thought the deal went smooth and got the impression it was alright for a dealers
so the following few weeks i was looking in there for myself, i found this polo. told the friend and she said they do a refer a friend scheme where if i buy a car and say she referred me we both get £50 each so we done that, we never got the £50, every time we enquired we got a different excuse,
so gave up on that. She then had a problem with the Golf whereby the reverse lights wouldn't work, she took it in and they gave it her back with no lights at all and said it was fixed but she didn't check it before taking it, took it back the following day and said it was ok when we gave it you.
4 days later they gave it her back with the epg light lit up on the dash, so she ripped into them in front of a full shop and they took it in again (2 days later) when she got it back she took it to williams bmw and traded it in for something there, she had had enough.
In my case the polo paint work was fine when i signed for it, when it came to picking it up the paint was full of swirls, pointed it out straight away but they tried to play it down 3 yr old car etc, i told them that wasn't the car i signed for and i want it putting right, they sent a mobile valelter to my house and it looked ok but it wasn't what it was like,
i accepted it, looking back now i shouldn't. Then it started cutting out, it went back in under warranty seven times for this and they didn't cure it, all the time they were trying to give me s**t excuses and were also backed up by vw uk.
The salesman was called Alex Wood, one day i phoned to speak to him about all the problems but was told he was away on a training course and they didn't know when he was coming back ever !
I went down about an hour later and seen him sat in his chair as i pulled up, he seen me and disappeared so i asked another salesman (looks like mr dead) who told me he's here somewhere, he went looking,
came back and said he's off today, at this point i seen him walk across the garage at the back, I told mr dead that Alex has just walked past behind you, he said impossible.
They really are tossers of the highest order. I called him a liar and asked for the manager, they said he wasn't in today.
Then they accused me off being abusive, i wonder why ? Also said it is cutting out due to my driving style, anything but a vw problem.
I found regular spraying of the throttle housing seemed to keep it at bay, it's cut out twice today, so it must be due. I stopped going anywhere near the place but on the last occasion i phoned the parts dept for a price for a pair of front discs and pads to match, price seemed good so i went down to buy them, when i got there it turned that they had given me the wrong price on the phone (despite me making him double check it)
and it was now double ! so i kicked off and offered to take him outside at which point he offered to phone the old bill.
I can honestly say it's the worst customer service i've come across, total amatuers.
God help Alex Wood if i see him on the street.....revenge will be sweet.

Same guy that sold me and stecey our cars, but i am affraid i cannot agree with you, i think he is a top bloke.

Whenever my car goes in with a problem or if i have any probs i usually sit n have a chat with him.

Stacey has also put him under strict orders not to sell me a Golf GT lol!!!

Lucky for Stacey, she has only had the washer jet problem with her Polo, mine had had a nice list of a fair few! (only 6 months old as well!)
