2 POLO's both bad

Post by polo 55 »

High All, hope your all well.

In Sep 2005 bought a brand new Polo from City Gate Colindale. During 2005-2006, I had major defects with the vehicle. I have a 1.4 s Auto. Auto gear box was changed, wheel bearings, adjustments to suspension, tappets changed, windows working intermitent. To add insult, Citygate damaged my vehicle three times and had to refuse the car until it was back to satisfactory conditions. The car had only done 3000 miles. In Dec 2006, after I was getting stressed out with the continued issued and bad customer service, VW offered to change the car, with me paying £500.00 towards it.

Now I am having issues with this one. I have complained to Paul Jenkins, head of Customer Car UK, Paul Willis, MD or VW UK and Alan Ducket, head of VW Finance. I had to get a VW techinician down from Milton Keynes for work to be confirmed on the current vehicle. New work was going to be carried out by Alan Day Hampsted. Again issues!!!

1) All four window regulators changed
2) Wishbones changed, and consol bushes
3) Slip ring round the steering wheel changed.
4) Loud engine noise. Injectors? But they say characteristics

To add insult, Alan day damaged the door panels when trying to remove them, and still I have the car with the above faults. Front door window knocking, rattle from Steering wheel. Suspension noise, gas discharge on minimal road surface.

When comlaining, VW Customer Care want to give me back £500 and then argue the repair with Alan Day. Which I find not good enough. I have had to drive the car with faults for months.

As a result, I have sent a letter to Alan Ducket, head of Finance for my money back! Had enough. The customer service is really poor.

Anyone had the same problem or advise a way to get a quicker response?

sending the letters to the top should get things sorted quickly enough

yeah, I'd get the 500 quid and your money back. then at least you've had free motoring for a while.

what's "gas discharge on minimal road surface"?

When driving, even on smooth roads, there is a loud/evident noise coming from the suspension. It is like, when you go over a bump, he hear the gas discharge from the shocks, well I get this even on no bumps!

It sounds like a flutter noise!

I am not suprised TBH.

I never purchased my vehicle brand new, but personally I would avoid Citygate Colindale for servicing and repairs.

When I bought my car over a year ago I gave them my car for servicing. There servicing garage used to be directly behind the showroom and I had left my car in the car park as told in the service reception and handed the keys over.

As I live local I decided to walk back home and come back later.

As soon as I start walking I hear my car being erractically driven - probably 25-30mph / first gear all the way  . To add they also damaged my engine cover!

I don't let VW touch my car no more. I've heard bad things about Alan Day / Finchley Road too. If you really have to use the dealers I've heard Watford Citygate and Ruislip are good. I've used Ruislip for parts too and they are suprisingly cheaper than other dealers.

I would also suggest writing to top - possibly threatening legal action if possible too!

I have written to the top, but they seem to play deaf/dumb and stupid. One, they tell me Alan day is a Franchise, and I agree, then Customer care is the brand, and finance is another identy of VW. So when complaining, one is passing one from the other. But when it comes for action, they all seem to authorise things between them. Funny that!

crazy stuff. one of the biggest reasons of buying a new car is the warranty. and then they treat it like this.

puts me off every buying a car under 3 years old!

Hi there, I found the sales side very helpful to. When it comes to warrenty work or an issue with the vehicle, then you have issues. Just the general attitude from the service advises is very poor. Same issue with Citygate. They are all the same. The last work carried out by Alan Day Hampsted was very poor. This was even when a guy from VW head office(their techincal support team) came down and instructed them what work had to be done. My car is 6 months old, and they changed all 4 window regulators. They are still knocking and to ad insult, they damaged my door panels. I could send you pics to prove! Be careful. Lee is the service manager. Work carried last year, I opened the bonnet and there was a snap on rachet inside.

just a few examples
