I'm a murderer :(

Post by Ollie_R »

On the way to the Prept meet at Brands Hatch, I was pootling along at about 40-ish on the A225, when I saw a rabbit run out on the road, it ran out right in front of me, and I had no time to swerve for it. Next thing I knew, I heard a thump from the nearside (fortunately no splitter damage, phew!) and I looked in my rearview to see the Polo 9N behind me swerve to avoid the now deceased bunny. All the way to the meet (which wasn't all that really) I was feeling quite upset and shocked.

RIP little bunny

Rabbits, for whatever reason, seem to have kamikaze tendencies.

I've hit a few out where my parents live, as they're literally all over one stretch of road, and wait until the last minute to dive out on front of you.

Not as bad if you hit them with the splitter, but I've been with my Father when he's had one under the wheel of his Range Rover. Not a nice sound as it whips round the wheel arch.

Either way, think of it as pest control.

I done one at work a few months back, felt bad for a few seconds then thought meh

(I'm in no way a cruel person though)

I've run over a few rats as well, they make a nice little pop sound when you get them

I've also got a bit of rabbit fur stuck under my car after straddling a dead one so as not to flatten it :)

I'm over it now, the important thing is that it didn't cause any damage to my car.

When I was on the back roads yesterday I stopped completely to let a horse buy. I also slowed down for some pheasants :D

On the way home last night about 11:30pm, on a 60-limit road in town, I saw what I thought was a rabbit sat on my side of the road so moved out to avoid it. As I got closer (at about 50-55mph) the "rabbit" was actually a grey cat just sat there minding his own business! Silly bugger! Hope he got home OK... :(

can you tell I'm a cat-lover?

Hmm, cats are a different story. I couldn't imagine what it would be like if I ran over someone's cat, it'd be horrible. I can't imagine how the driver of the car that ran over my Maine Coon would've felt after he hit poor TC a few years back. Also, there's a cat down the road who waits outside it's owner's house for the owners, I assume, and the house is right by a dodgy bend.

*Cat lover as well*

i would be devastated if i ran over a cat!! Being a cat owner myself, i know how it would feel and i love my cat more than anything! Rabbits are just stupid though, they walk out in front of your car, stop, wait for you to get nearer, then walk back in front of your car
