Drivers side window bug...

Post by tegwin »

As im sure you know, if you push the window button down half way the window will go down until you lift your finger off the button.... If you push the button down all the way the window will drop all the way....

I have an issue with my drivers side window switch, it has started playing up.....

If I push it down to the first setting, nothing happens or if im lucky there is a few second delay and the window will move a little bit.... If I push the button all the way down the window goes down, but I have to keep my finger on the button to make it go down..

Comming back up works as it should...

Anyone have any thoughts on this?....It seems almost like an ECU/sensor issue...

I had a similar problem, turned out to be the switch, water had got in there (probably from opening the door in the rain etc) and the contacts had corroded.

Cheap fix, just needed a new switch. :D

How does the drivers side window/lock switches come out?

Is it simply a case of levering them out of the doorcard and risk damaging the clips?

the way i would do it were to take of the doorcard, and pop it through from the otherside. Just literally come in from puttting them back on haha,

Took the switches out of the door and swapped the drivers and passenger side switch cables over and its deffinately the switch thats fuggered...

Does anyone know, Can I just order a single rocker switch or do I have to replace the entire switch pannel with both rocker switches and the door locking switch?

You can buy the switch on its own! It's hard to get out but there should be a part number on there.

I'd try to find one at a scrappy first, I paid about £15 for mine from vw
