egg'd both front tyre's in the space of 3 days

Post by bramley »

i was walkin up to my car the other day and noticed a sort of egg shape lump on my tyre, i took it to the garage and they said i must of curbed my car or something and needed a new tyre, so forked out £90 for a goodyear ds-g 3 eagle f1 and then today i noticed exactly the same thing on the passenger side front so yet again i had to spend another £90
has anybody else had this problem with the standard tyres, conti sport contact 2's? or is it just a miss hap that ive had with a pot hole?

thanks

i aint had anything like that mate, but mine came stan dard on dunlop sp sport maxx tyres

sounds like you have hit a curb too quick parking, pot holes whel driving or someones smacking your tyres with a hammer or something

yer possibly, what tyres are you runnin now??
also when driving along and you let go of the steering wheel, does your car vear left, and if so is it quite drastic?

cause ive noticed mine vears off quite sharp sometimes, so im wondering if i've damaged anything

btw, i dont make a habbit of drivin with no hands lol

Its a 9n Polo / Mk4 Ibiza and Fabia problem the tendancy to go left - most dealers come with the same crap that it is meant to do it for safety - which is utter garbage.

As for your tyres - i dont think someone is hiting them with a hammer as suggested above

Sound slike defective tyres, i'd be contacting the tyre manufacturer and/or the garage about it - as they could be part of a duff batch if the both have sidewall problems.

You'd easy know if it was kerb caused cos you'd see localised scuffing on the sidewall on the bulge.

yer, it depends on my speed aswell how much it vears off
im runnin goodyear eagle f1's on the front and there both brand new and cant see any physical problem with them, could it be to do with the allignment and balancing of the wheels??

im still running the dunlop's mate, not worn them out yet but was gonna change to conti sport contact 2's next time, but now im re considering and thinking of michelin pilot exalto pe2's after hearing your problems, as i was torn between the 2

and yes my car also veers off to the left, its annoying but you get used to it, iv had tracking done and re done time and time again, but no difference

yer, i would go with the michellins they last forever and the conti's seemed to "egg" easy, like today, just a slight pot hole did it..

WRT pulling to the left, my wife's 9N Polo never really had this problem other than what you would expect with road camber, in fact now that it has had a full camber etc reset after getting the TCA bushes changed (to Seat Ibiza Cupra), there is no veering with hands off - unless due to extreme camber.

are these cupra bushes also an upgrade for the gti spec polo? or are cupra and gti bushes the same?
