Starting problem

Post by a4pacific »

My daughter has a Polo 1.4 N reg, recently it has developed a starting problem, only if the engine is cold, esp. if it has been left for a few days.

I turn the key, the engine turns, fires up and dies within a matter of may be 5-10 seconds, pressing on the throttle makes no difference. Starting the car with the throttle fully depressed still have the same result.

Then after trying all these, I leave the car for about 10 minutes, come back and it will start up and run as normal as though nothing has happened.

Any body has any suggestion?

Thanks

Sounds like an immobiliser issue. The fuel pump doesnt work when the engine is immobilsed - i think that might be whats going on.

The car was diagnosed by a VW dealer it was the immobiliser fault, they changed it and re program the keys and now it is all right.
