Interior Styling!

Post by enc »

Wondering if anyone can help me with their experiences or information on changing the interior styling for seating in a MK4 Polo. From looking in my boot near the spare tyre a white sticker informs me that my "Paint / Interior" code is 'LP3G' and 'EK' respectively. I can't find any web-sites with information or pictures regarding these codes so any advice on such sites would be good there.

What I'm really wanting to do is basically overhaul the interior, not in a radical mad-spending way, but I would like to have the seats black and red to match the exterior instead of the patterned coverings they have now. Anyone ideas on how to do this and how much its gonna cost?

You can get cheap seat covers in a varitey of colour combinations, the problem being that they do look VERY cheap.

I would start with a few basics like an after-market gear knob/handbrake and matching gaiters, then move onto a steering wheel, then painting airvents.

Your next step is the seats, You can either buy some new seats (buckets seats from cobra and Corbeau start from £100 each plus subframes (about £30 extra) but to get an adjustable sports seat you will be looking at spending about £200 a seat, the only problem is your other seats/door cards wont match the new seats - meaning a retrim (in cloth, leather or alacantara - depending on budjet). If the standard seats are comfy enough (i have GLX seats and these are fine) you could go for a black/red retrim on all the interior. not sure on price for cloth but i was quoted £1000 for a green/black leather interior for mine - cloth will be cheaper.

The best bit would be to change a part every month, as and when you can afford it

hope that helps :)

Seat wise, there's some OE stuff that will also fit straight in;

Mk5 interiors (GTI is nice) 100% front and rear
Mk4 obviously, very easy to take out and replace btw
Mk3 Golf (GTI or other higher spec stuff is nice - including some Recaro-based seats) 100% front, modding needed for the rear bench
Passat 35i stuff (front only)

Or go aftermarket as Karl suggested. I opted for Recaro's, but most other 'big names' are worth having a look at. I nearly got me some Königs...

Similar to the ones in the R32:

They're indeed made by König. But just like VW-Recaro seats these seats are not 100% identical to the normal König K6000 seats.

They're damn close though. And I would still hit 'em.
