polo problem :(

yep another problem for my polo. when im driving along and i push the clutch pedal down i get a grinding rattling noise but when the pedal is fully up there is no noise. its also quite clunky to get into gear and the clutch pedal is stiff.

does this mean my gearbox or clutch is on the way out?

What is it you have? 16v or 8v??

Cos if it does turn out to be your gearbox, i have a recently refurbed 8v box with new clutch too
