Youve got a short circuit - NEVER up the ampage of a fuse - it can cause cables to melt and burst into flames

There may well be other things wired into that fuse...ill have to look in my manuals.

Check theres no obstructions or objects in the cigarette lighter socket.

Try getting a Haynes manual and looking at what else is attatched to that fuse. In the mk4 it also supplies the radio and central locking, so have a look cos it might be a problem with somthing other than the cig lighter. Sounds to me asthough youve got a shortcircuit somewhere. Make sure you fix the problem before putting new fuses in otherwise you could start a fire, and you dont want that!
