whats the biggest alloy wheel i can have

hi im woundering what the biggest size alloy is that i can put on my polo 1.4 cl 1998 ? anyone know if i can squeeze 17" on her?

Don't think you can lower it either if you do.

Then you'll be left with a lil Polo looking like its on stilts, ruins your car totally in my opinion.
