I may be parting with my gti for another vehicle (shh alex), and I just want a bit of help of exactly what needs to be done
e.g. Proof of exchange, documents etc...
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have only purchased a car off a main dealer before so not entirely sure what is needed, and what to ensure I dont get ripped off etc...
help please

Exactly that so don't worry.
both parties keep a copy of proof of purchase and you must state on that; 'sold as seen on purchase'. You don't want them coming back the next day saying there was a dent they didn't see.
You keep the log book (V5) and only give the relative small slip to the other buyer. Never give the whole document even with your details already written on it. They might not let the DVLA know and get a pile of tickets which'l come through your postbox.
