MOT done at VW in the end, passed, two light bulbs replaced as the orange had worn off and the light was showing white. Total of £55.

Well, any joy with getting your car through its MOT ?
Ah, I didn't read ALL the posts fully - I'll get my coat - but I did warn you about the indicator bulbs - if I can remember correctly, it cost me £12 or £16 to get both my rear ones supplied and changed

Had the front side bulbs changed, were only couple of quid. thats it. Everything else was fine. Need the 40k service next.

I think that you meant "front indicator bulbs changed" - it might be a good idea to buy a pack of two and change the rear ones - they are easier to change than the front ones - see my first reply to this post. I felt really gutted when I discovered that I had paid £16 for the garage to change both my rear indicator bulbs. Remember the rear bulbs get the same use as the front ones.
