polo mk4 speedo, faulty milege display, can used parts fix it

Post by dub fatha »

hiya

need some advice please before i rip my speedo apart,

i have an s reg mk4 polo 1.9 diesel which has a faulty milege display.

some of the pigments (i think thats how its spelt) have died and you can only see the bottom half of the milege.

i have a second hand speedo from a petrol model, and was going to use the bit that displays the milege and fit it into mine,

not sure if this is accurate bit i was told that the immobiliser runs through the speedo like the mk4 golf's.

please can someone let me know if i can fit the second hand milege diplay into my clocks without any problems from the immobiliser, and also if it will show my original milege or the milege from the doner speedo.

any help or advice will be much appreciated,

regards

A display swap should work fine - providing its only the display you swap and not the speedo memory par example!
